Carmen specializes in Orthopedic Medical Massage to treat auto accident injuries, pre and post-surgical care and sport injuries. She is trained in Tui Na, a traditional Chinese medical massage combined with Eastern Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, European Cranial Sacral and Lymphatic Drainage.
Carmen was born and raised in Java, Indonesia, where massage was embedded into the fabric of daily cultural life. Massage for healing purposes is connected to traditional medicine and everyday well being. While living in Java and later in Bali, she was exposed to an array of spiritual practices: Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, Islam and indigenous beliefs. Perhaps this explains her open, generous spirit and humble eagerness to help heal those around her.
She has a calming and centered presence.
She completed massage training at the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute in 1991 and later completed additional schooling at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego in 2003. For the past 20 years, she has enjoyed working with an integrative medical center and specializes in medical massage, trauma, injuries due to accidents and sports injuries.
